Aggregate pier ground improvement for an existing warehouse

Subsurface Constructors installed 400 aggregate piers inside an existing warehouse on Long Island, New York that is being converted to a two-story storage facility. We used our innovative vibro flot system on a rig set up for working inside a building with height restrictions varying between 16 and 20 feet. The aggregate piers were installed to a depth of 10 to 13 feet to improve and reinforce loose fills and soft silts. This approach provided the project with significant cost savings from over-excavation of 10 to 13 feet below the existing building or pile foundations.
