Ground improvement, rock anchors and earth retention for agricultural technology development

The Danforth Plant Science Center in Creve Coeur, Missouri is expanding with a new agricultural technology innovation district. The Edge is a 160,000 square foot building within this development that required the support of aggregate pier ground improvement. Subsurface Constructors installed approximately 530 aggregate piers to depths of up to 20 feet in order to reinforce the existing fill and medium stiff silty clays on the site. Additional, Subsurface installed 12 rock anchors in the sandstone bedrock for uplift resistance of the footings to seismic loads. Our team also designed and installed an earth retention system that was required in a small part of the site for a permeant wall.
